University of Michigan men's basketball team prepares for new season after championship win

The University of Michigan's men's basketball team is preparing for another exciting season after their national championship win last year. Two key players who played a significant role in their success are Elliot Cadeau and Trey McKenney, who shared moments on the court together.

Cadeau and McKenney were part of an impressive backcourt that complemented the dominant frontcourt of the team. Despite being overshadowed by their teammates' exceptional performance, they made crucial contributions to the championship win. Now, they are expected to take on bigger roles this season as leaders of the program.

In a recent media event, Cadeau and McKenney expressed their preparedness for the increased expectations and responsibilities that come with their new roles. They acknowledged the added pressure but seem confident in their ability to lead the team to success. According to Cadeau, they feel there's more on their shoulders this year.

Their confidence stems from the valuable experience gained during last season's national title run, which was a defining moment for both players.

Their experience in last season's national title run has instilled confidence in both players to take on bigger roles this year. Cadeau's remarkable turnaround from a disappointing stint at North Carolina to being named Final Four Most Outstanding Player is a testament to his growth and determination.

Cadeau attributes his success to the culmination of experiences throughout his college career, saying that his whole life has built up to this point in time. In his first three years in college, he often found himself with limited playing time, but this season has been different. He has had more opportunities to showcase his skills and take on a bigger role for the team.

Cadeau's performance in the national title game was particularly impressive, as he scored a game-high 19 points to lead Michigan to victory. This moment of triumph has given him the confidence to step up when needed, and he is now seen as a key player for the team.

Michigan Basketball's national title run has catapulted Elliot Cadeau and Trey McKenney into prominent positions within the team. Both players have shown significant improvement from their freshman season, when Cadeau struggled to make shots from beyond the arc.

Their hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, as they were named to the 2026 All-Big Ten Preseason Team. This recognition is a testament to the progress they've made since their first year with the team. Boynton has praised them for being among the hardest working players on the squad.

The momentum gained from last season's success will be crucial in determining the team's performance this year, and Cadeau and McKenney are poised to lead the charge. With experience and a clear understanding of their roles, they should be able to excel as leaders both on and off the court.
