THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a significant enhance to its emergence as a data and innovation hub, Thiruvananthapuram has been chosen to host one of India’s first university townships.
The initiative, proposed within the Union Budget 2026-27, envisages organising 5 university townships within the neighborhood of main industrial and logistics corridors throughout the nation to strengthen collaboration amongst academia, business and analysis.
As per the Centre’s plan, such educational zones will host a number of universities, faculties, analysis establishments, ability centres and residential complexes.
BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who revealed the town’s choice in a social media publish, mentioned the proposed township, together with the prevailing Thiruvananthapuram Research and Innovation Cluster (T-RIC), would create an innovation ecosystem that’s “capable of transforming the lives of young Malayalis”.
