Professor Medha Vishram Kulkarni, Member of Parliament within the Rajya Sabha, has been appointed Chairperson of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
The appointment acquired approval from the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, as acknowledged in an official communication issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
The letter, signed by Joint Secretary Rakesh Naithani, confirmed that Kulkarni’s nomination and appointment took impact on May 18, 2026.
The committee is chargeable for analyzing coverage issues, laws, and points associated to science and know-how, the environment, forests, and local weather change.
The letter reads: “I am directed to inform you that in terms of provisions of Sub-Rule (1) of Rule 269 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), you have been nominated to be a Member of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change w.e.f 18 May, 2026. I am further to inform you that under Sub-Rule (2) of Rule 269 of the said Rules, Hon’ble Chairman, Rajya Sabha has been pleased to appoint you to be the Chairperson of the said Committee.”
Kulkarni, a BJP chief from Maharashtra and former MLA from Pune, acknowledged that the duty would offer a possibility to contribute to coverage discussions on scientific development, environmental safety, and climate-related challenges going through the nation.
