Govt allocates Tk 24.72cr for young scientists’ research in FY27: Minister

SANGSAD BHABAN, July 14, 2026 (BSS) – The authorities has allotted Taka 24.72
crore in the 2026-27 fiscal 12 months to assist research by young scientists as
a part of its efforts to advertise scientific innovation and technological
development, Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam informed
Parliament immediately.
Replying to a starred query from treasury bench member M A Hannan of
Brahmanbaria-1 constituency, the minister mentioned the Ministry of Science and
Technology has been offering particular research grants below its Science and
Technology Programme to encourage academics, researchers and young scientists
from private and non-private universities in addition to researchers from numerous
authorities and non-government organisations.
With Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal in the chair, he mentioned the
initiative goals to foster scientific research, promote innovation and
encourage the event of latest applied sciences throughout the nation.
Faqir Mahbub Anam mentioned the ministry has additionally been implementing programmes to
assist the event of progressive tasks undertaken by young scientists
in order to encourage them to pursue cutting-edge research.
He knowledgeable the House that the ministry awards the National Science and
Technology Fellowship to MS, MPhil, PhD and postdoctoral college students and
researchers in science and know-how disciplines to advertise research,
technological innovation and nationwide socio-economic improvement whereas
constructing a scientifically minded nation.
During the 2025-26 fiscal 12 months, a complete of 4,282 researchers acquired Taka
25.45 crore below the National Science and Technology Fellowship Programme,
he added.
The minister additional mentioned that to encourage science-based greater schooling
and research and enhance the standard of scientific research and technological
innovation, the ministry offered Taka 3.97 crore in grants to 358 scientists
and researchers below its Research and Development Projects Programme in the
present 2025-26 fiscal 12 months.
