A dragon boat contest for international students was held on the Fengxian campus of East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai on Saturday, celebrating the normal Chinese pageant with enjoyable.
The contest, named “Paddling through Culture, Embracing the Dragon Boat Festival”, gathered 716 international students from 32 universities, together with Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Tongji University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Zhu Weihong, vice-president of East China University of Science and Technology, stated that the dragon boat contest has turn into a bond of friendship, a platform to boost exchanges, and a bridge to attach the minds of abroad students from everywhere in the world.
“Through the competition, students demonstrate the sportsmanship of unity, hard work, and courage to move forward,” he stated. “Meanwhile, they gain friendship.”
The competitors continued the custom and adopted a blended males’s and girls’s 200-meter straight observe racing system. After intense competitors in the preliminaries and finals, the Fudan University workforce gained first prize, Zhejiang University and East China Normal University gained second prize, groups from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Tongji University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai Normal University, and Shanghai University of Electric Power gained third prize.
