An England World Cup fan zone deliberate for Guernsey will now happen indoors at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre after the unique Crown Pier screening couldn’t go forward.

Guernsey Police mentioned it was unable to assist the outside occasion on Wednesday due to the quick planning timescale and out there assets, whereas Guernsey Ports raised considerations about its impression on visiting yacht crews.

The occasion will now be held within the Sir John Loveridge Hall, with doorways opening at 17:30 BST forward of England’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina which kicks off at 20:00.

Organiser Alex Lock mentioned he and the workforce had labored by means of the night time to discover a new venue for the occasion.

Lock mentioned: “When it became clear that Crown Pier could not proceed, cancelling the event would have been the easiest option, but we did not want to let everyone down.”

He went on to say [he] “would love the opportunity to work with Beau Sejour on more events in the future, but that will depend in part on Wednesday’s event being delivered safely and responsibly.”

Existing Crown Pier tickets are now not legitimate, with earlier ticket holders given precedence entry to new tickets from 17:30 BST on Tuesday and remaining tickets launched at 18:00.
