Nanyang Technological University (NTU) maintained its place at No. 2 globally, whereas the National University of Singapore (NUS) rose 4 locations to fifth.
Singapore was ranked the world’s second-richest country by GDP per capita in 2025 by The Economist. Malaysia was the one different Southeast Asian nation represented in the AI rankings, with 4 universities positioned between one hundred and sixty fifth and 241st worldwide.
Released in June, the 2026–2027 U.S. News Best Global Universities topic rankings evaluated 2,250 universities worldwide. The AI rating included establishments that printed not less than 200 AI analysis papers between 2020 and 2024.

No U.S. or European college appeared in the global top 10. Mainland China dominated the rating with eight establishments, led by Beijing’s Tsinghua University at No. 1.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong rounded out top 10 at ninth place.
Beyond AI, NTU additionally ranked first globally in electrical and digital engineering, second in engineering, third in condensed matter physics, and fourth in computer science.
NUS, in the meantime, ranked first in optics, third in chemistry, fifth in supplies science, and sixth in laptop science.
In the general Best Global Universities rankings, NUS ranked second in Asia and sixteenth worldwide, forward of NTU at fourth and twenty seventh.
