United Airlines is set to resume flights to Chihuahua Airport in northern Mexico from March 28, 2027. The airline will operate a route from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to CUU, marking its return to the destination after a three-year hiatus.

According to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium, United last served the IAH-CUU route in 2020. This expansion comes at a time when airlines worldwide are struggling with rising fuel costs and adjusting their operations accordingly. The airline will use a Bombardier CRJ-550 on this route.

The CRJ-550 features a unique seating configuration, offering 10 first-class seats, 20 extra-legroom economy seats, and 20 standard economy seats. This aircraft has been upgraded from its original 70-seat CRJ-700 configuration to provide passengers with more options for comfort during their journey.

United Airlines' expansion plans show no signs of slowing down as the carrier continues to add new routes to its network. Despite concerns about fuel prices and their potential impact on profitability, United remains focused on growth, at least for now.

The airline's commitment to expansion is evident in its decision to launch a new service between Houston and Chihuahua, Mexico. This route marks one of several additions to the carrier's schedule in 2027, with more destinations set to be introduced in the coming months.

United has also announced plans to end service to Tulum International Airport in January, as part of its ongoing efforts to optimize its network. However, the airline's long-haul expansion is set to continue apace, with new routes to Luxembourg and Ljubljana scheduled for next summer.

United Airlines has been actively adjusting its route network to balance growth and profitability. The carrier's recent additions and cancellations reflect this strategy, as it seeks to optimize its operations.

The airline is set to continue expanding its international reach with new routes scheduled for next summer, including flights to Luxembourg and Ljubljana. This expansion underscores United's commitment to growing its global presence while maintaining a focus on financial sustainability.
