An officer with the United States Secret Service, together with staff of the Washington Hilton, have been commended tonight for the way they responded to the taking pictures at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in April.
Weijia Jiang, the outgoing president of the WHCA, introduced Secret Service officer Victor Gonzales with the President’s Award for Exceptional Service to the WHCA. Gonzales, regardless of being struck by gunfire, engaged the armed intruder at the April occasion.
