The US Federal Aviation Administration mentioned on Monday that seats on hundreds of Boeing 737 MAX jets registered within the US were incorrectly put in and have to be mounted.
If not, the seats might injure passengers throughout an emergency touchdown.
The FAA’s proposed airworthiness directive issued on Monday would apply to 453 jets registered within the US. It didn’t say whether or not worldwide operators would even be affected, although they usually comply with FAA directives if relevant.
The company mentioned within the airworthiness directive proposal that it obtained “a report that certain passenger seat assemblies were not correctly installed in the seat tracks.”
There might be as much as 69 track-mounted passenger seat assemblies on every 737 MAX airplane and the problem would take an estimated one work-hour to repair every meeting, the FAA mentioned.
It didn’t say how shortly airways would wish to repair the problem.
Boeing didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
