President Bola Tinubu has permitted the institution of the National Health Technology and Data Analytics Office (NHTDAO) and appointed Dr Obi Adigwe because the pioneer National Coordinator.

The company can be domiciled within the Office of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare.

The NHTDAO will function a meta-level nationwide platform for coordinating the nation’s digital-health agenda.

It will reinforce, not exchange, the present statutory features of related departments and businesses.

It may also harmonise and empower the private and non-private establishments throughout the well being system, set the requirements that join them, and operationalise the National Digital Health Architecture, permitted by the National Council on Health in November 2025.

The National Coordinator, Dr Adigwe, as Director General of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development, has leveraged science to catalyse interventions in synthetic intelligence, translational analysis, and know-how switch.

He coordinated main tasks, together with the ¥300m Nanotechnology grant and the AFREXIMBank grant for Africa’s first API Training Facility. He led the roadmap improvement that underpinned an €18 million EU grant, the biggest in Africa for the thematic space. The President expects NHTDAO to speed up Nigeria’s transition to a safe, interoperable and data-driven well being system that improves outcomes for all residents, consistent with the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration.
