Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday inaugurated the two-day National Semiconductor Symposium and the Biotechnology, Electronics, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (BEAR) Conference 2026, highlighting the federal government’s dedication to constructing Bangladesh’s high-tech ecosystem.

The Prime Minister opened the convention at 10:00 am on the Novo Theatre in Tejgaon, organised by the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Silicon River Bangladesh programme.

The occasion, themed “Building Bangladesh’s Semiconductor Future through Global Partnership,” introduced collectively policymakers, international semiconductor business leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, teachers, buyers and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora to debate the nation’s long-term technique for creating the semiconductor sector.

According to the organisers, the convention goals to advertise Bangladesh’s semiconductor business and strengthen the nation’s place in rising applied sciences.

The occasion options 11 technical classes and 7 strategic dialogue classes specializing in semiconductor business improvement, international know-how management, know-how convergence, the way forward for high-tech industries, entrepreneurship, engagement of Bangladeshi know-how professionals residing overseas and superior manufacturing.

Participants included representatives from Texas Instruments, Purdue University, GlobalFoundries, NXP, Applied Materials, SanDisk, CREDO and the Vietnam Semiconductor Alliance and Partnership, amongst others.

The organisers mentioned discussions will deal with creating a talented semiconductor workforce, constructing a powerful business ecosystem, strengthening international partnerships, selling analysis, advancing manufacturing capabilities, commercialising innovation and supporting deep-tech entrepreneurship.

The second day of the convention will function the Christie Fellowship Research Symposium, the place rising Bangladeshi semiconductor researchers will current their newest analysis.
Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, Prime Minister’s ICT Adviser Rehan Asif Asad, Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain and Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association President M A Jabbar, amongst others, addressed the inaugural session.

Professor Mohammad Mustafa Hossain of Purdue University, chief architect of BEAR and Silicon River Bangladesh, delivered the keynote imaginative and prescient tackle.

Alongside the convention, the BEAR Innovation Expo 2026 is showcasing improvements developed by college students, researchers and start-ups in semiconductors, synthetic intelligence, robotics, well being know-how and different deep-tech sectors.

Following the inaugural session, the Prime Minister toured the exhibition which options 35 stalls.
