An individual who ran away from federal immigration agents in St. Augustine, Florida, early Tuesday was struck and killed by a tractor trailer, in accordance with the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred round 6:40 a.m. throughout an encounter with Homeland Security Investigations and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, the freeway patrol stated in an announcement.
Four occupants of a automobile ran away and one ran throughout State Road 16 and “into the path of the tractor trailer,” Sgt. Dylan Bryan advised NCS.
While the motive force stopped and tried to render support, the individual died on the scene, Bryan stated.
The Associated Press reported the individual is a person.
His immigration standing and nationality are unknown, and the explanation for the encounter with federal agents just isn’t but clear.
The freeway patrol is investigating the incident, and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office helped with site visitors management.
