The “major fundraising announcement” Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes referenced in a letter to followers final month was relating to an extended deliberate services undertaking.

OSU has been planning its Field Sports Building — which would be the new residence for the Beavers males’s and girls’s soccer, monitor and area, cross nation and softball groups — for a number of years. Donations for the $25 million undertaking have been secured and development of the 15,000-square-foot facility, which will likely be positioned adjoining to Kelly Field, Whyte Track & Field Center and Lorenz Field, will start in July.

“We hit that ($25 million) number a couple of months ago,” Barnes informed The Oregonian/OregonStay on Friday. “We’ve made that announcement and we’re going to start digging dirt here pretty quickly. It was the last project on an over $300 facilities master plan, the last project that sort of met our goal for some Title IX improvements.”

Barnes publicly referenced the project in May 2022 and once more in August 2024.

OSU’s board of trustees authorized the design part for the constructing undertaking in October 2025 and approved construction final month.

The constructing will embrace 4 locker rooms, coaches’ workplaces, assembly area and coaching rooms for the 5 outside sports activities groups, OSU college architect and director of capital assets Libby Ramirez informed the board’s finance and administration committee.

Currently, these groups are housed at Gill Coliseum.

Bruce Daley, OSU’s affiliate vice chairman for services planning and administration, informed the committee development will start in July and final one 12 months to July 2027.

“We were able to take care of that and put it to bed,” Barnes stated. “And more coming; we’ve got potentially another (facilities) announcement soon.”
