But The Athletic’s Will Sammon argues that outfielder A.J. Ewing’s call-up to the Majors, after simply 13 video games at Triple-A, is a determined transfer by the group.
“The common sentiment from executives, scouts, and agents across the league following news of Ewing’s promotion to the big leagues a night earlier sounded considerably less enthused: The Mets reek of desperation,” Sammon wrote Wednesday.
Desperation could also be working within the Mets’ favor. Ewing hit his first profession MLB dwelling run on Thursday afternoon in opposition to the Detroit Tigers.
Regardless, Ewing is a participant who seemingly wants extra reps and at-bats within the minors sooner or later this season.

“For as desperate a move as it was, calling up Ewing to play center field on an everyday basis was also necessary,” Sammon added. “He was the best option. Says a lot about him. Says more about the state of the Mets.”

The 21-year-old is sort of assured to return to Triple-A Syracuse when Luis Robert Jr., Francisco Lindor, or Jorge Polanco returns from the injured record.
