CNBC notes that Ohio’s largest future problem is workforce, notably the want for extra expert employees and better instructional attainment. The state estimates it should want a whole bunch of hundreds of STEM employees in the coming decade.
UC’s cooperative education (co-op) and experiential studying packages straight handle that want by embedding significant, paid work experiences into tutorial packages. Co-op connects college students with Ohio employers in fields reminiscent of superior manufacturing, knowledge, engineering, finance, healthcare and know-how.
UC’s co-op program permits corporations to judge potential hires on actual initiatives, not simply resumes. Ohio corporations like Procter & Gamble, Kinetic Vision and Kaleidoscope Innovation are amongst UC’s co-op employers.
“Work-based learning opportunities like co-ops, internship or externship programs are a win-win for students, colleges and employers,” stated Ohio Governor Mike DeWine during a visit to UC. (*1*)
Through co-op, UC college students construct job-ready abilities, skilled networks and real-world expertise earlier than commencement. Many keep in Ohio after they graduate, contributing to the state’s expertise pipeline and supporting the companies that helped earn the No. 1 rating.
