Social welfare and girls and kids affairs minister AZM Zahid Hossain at a seminar in Dhaka on Sunday known as for taking worldwide customary science-based and built-in approaches to protect the youth from the curses of drug abuse.

The minister made the remarks as chief visitor on the seminar titled Evidence-Based Initiatives for Youth Drug Prevention organised to mark International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, stated a press launch.

The AUST organised the seminar with the assist from Dhaka Ahsania Mission and the Bangladesh Chapter of the International Society of Substance Use Professionals.

He talked about, ‘We should not keep the emphasise on the efforts of fear-based or prohibition-oriented campaigns alone in this regard.’

Highlighting the significance of coordinated efforts in constructing a drug-free society, the minister confused the collective roles of presidency establishments, academic institutions, households and social organisations.

‘We must build a social movement involving all sectors of the society to eliminate drugs from the country. Only then we can establish a humane and prosperous country,’ he stated.

The minister additionally famous that the ministry of social welfare and the ministry of ladies and kids affairs had been implementing varied initiatives to equip the youth with sensible abilities by means of schooling, coaching and capacity-building programmes.

Presided over by AUST vice-chancellor Professor Md Ashraful Haque, director of well being of the Dhaka Ahsania Mission and normal secretary of the ISSUP Bangladesh Chapter Iqbal Masud delivered keynote handle on the seminar.
