Authorities at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) have barred a teacher from all tutorial actions following allegations of sexual harassment made by a pupil throughout a departmental examine tour.
University Information Officer Md Nazmul Hossain informed reporters on Thursday that the disciplinary motion was taken towards Monirul Islam, a lecturer within the Department of Environmental Science and Technology.
“According to the decision of the Academic Committee, the teacher has been relieved of all departmental responsibilities, including classes, examinations, and research activities. It has also been decided that he will not be assigned to any future study tours,” Nazmul mentioned.
The incident reportedly occurred on Apr 22 throughout a examine tour for the 2023-24 tutorial session.
A feminine pupil filed a proper criticism alleging sexual harassment by the lecturer.

Prof Shireen Nigar, convenor of the criticism committee, mentioned: “We received the relevant documents on Wednesday night. Since the next two days are weekend holidays, we will meet on Sunday to review the files and commence the formal investigation.”
Prof Gopal Chandra Ghosh, chairman of the Department of Environmental Science and Technology, confirmed that the division’s resolution has been formally communicated to the central administration.
“The safety and dignity of our students are being given the highest priority,” he added.
