John Sanders, a former KDKA-TV sports reporter and announcer for the Pittsburgh Pirates, has died. Sanders died Wednesday, only a week after his 83rd birthday.

He was born in Kansas and labored in tv in Topeka and Kansas City, Missouri, earlier than shifting to Pittsburgh. He got here to KDKA-TV in 1978 because the weekend sports anchor and ultimately grew to become the station’s sports director.
In 1980, he was paired with Lanny Frattare to name the Pirates video games in the course of the 1981 season, and he continued to be part of the Pirates’ broadcast staff for 9 seasons.
Sanders left Pittsburgh in 1991, however he continued to do play-by-play work for different groups for a lot of extra years.
