A powerful hurricane is bearing down on Mexico's Pacific coast, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to already saturated regions. The storm, named Trudy, made landfall in parts of the country's western and southwestern states, areas that were still recovering from the impacts of Hurricane Simon just last week.

The National Hurricane Center has issued warnings for hurricane and tropical storm conditions in several areas, including those under weather alerts on Sunday morning and afternoon. A hurricane warning remains in effect along a 200-mile stretch of coast from Manzanillo in Colima state to Cabo Corrientes in Jalisco.

As of the latest update from the National Hurricane Center, Trudy's maximum sustained winds were recorded at 105 mph, classifying it as a Category 2 hurricane. Despite its initial strength as a major Category 3 hurricane late last week, the storm has since weakened, but still poses a significant threat to coastal communities.

Trudy's center is forecasted to remain close to Mexico's Pacific coast through Sunday evening before shifting south of the Baja California Peninsula.

A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Las Islas Marias. The storm is predicted to bring significant rainfall to the region, with 4 to 8 inches expected over the weekend. In some areas, such as Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco, isolated totals could reach around 12 inches along and near the coast.

As of Sunday afternoon local time, Hurricane Champi was 200 miles west of Guam, moving steadily at a speed of 14 mph according to updates from the National Weather Service. This ominous storm is gaining momentum and could potentially intensify into a Category 5 super typhoon by early Monday.

Airports, harbors, and some healthcare facilities in the affected territories have been shut down as a precautionary measure. The region is still reeling from the aftermath of two previous super typhoons, Sinlaku and Bavi, which struck in April and July respectively, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
