Gov. Monday Okpebholo has signed a bill renaming and restructuring Edo’s agriculture establishment to strengthen scientific and technological coaching throughout its three campuses.
Mr Okpebholo assented to the laws on Tuesday whereas receiving Speaker Blessing Agbebaku throughout a courtesy go to to Government House, Benin.
The new legislation modifications the establishment’s identify from Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources to Edo State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology.
The establishment operates three campuses, with Iguoriakhi for agricultural know-how, Uromi for forestry, and Agenebode specialising in aquaculture.
Presenting the bill, Mr Agbebaku mentioned the modification aligned the establishment with international finest practices and would enhance the standard of schooling and sensible coaching.
He mentioned the revised laws would equip college students with modern agricultural abilities, strengthen meals safety, and promote sustainable agricultural growth throughout Edo.

“Agriculture has gone scientific. We decided to amend the bill so that we can push agriculture into the system scientifically. The institution was formerly called the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Following your directive, it is now the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology,” he mentioned.
Mr Okpebholo described the signing as the start of a brand new period for the establishment and a big milestone for Edo.
“Today is a new dawn for Edo State College of Agriculture. The amended law will bring significant improvements, and the state will benefit immensely,” the governor mentioned.
