To strengthen collaboration with business, whereas enhancing warfighter readiness and lethality, the Office of Naval Research (ONR) — to embrace the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and ONR’s worldwide arm, ONR Global — will host an exhibit at the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space Exposition, April 20-22, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

The exhibit (No. 1653) will characteristic ONR- and NRL-sponsored applied sciences, interactive shows and informational supplies. In addition, ONR, NRL and ONR Global program officers and different personnel will have interaction with business, authorities and navy leaders to focus on methods to advance reducing-edge science and know-how (S&T) capabilities to the Fleet and Force.

An important half of this outreach includes in-individual engagement with business — from conversations at the exhibit to dialogue on the showroom ground. Also, ONR goals for efficient S&T partnerships might be highlighted throughout business-centric panel discussions, that includes command leaders and representatives from its Small Business and Technology Transfer places of work.

“Sea-Air-Space is an opportunity for ONR, NRL and ONR Global to engage with industry and build powerful partnerships resulting in dominant warfighting capabilities that will re-shape the Navy and Marine Corps’ future,” stated Chief of Naval Research (CNR) Dr. Rachel Riley.

At Sea-Air-Space this 12 months, ONR will announce a sequence of Innovation Industry Days that can happen at ONR over the approaching months — designed to chart the longer term, overcome hurdles, share priorities and proceed to prepared the ground in growing and delivering America’s dominant warfighting capabilities.

“The Department of War and Department of the Navy guidance is clear: We are moving forward to ensure continued warfighting dominance,” stated Riley.

Cruz, NRL commanding officer, will converse on a panel titled “Naval Research: From Discovery to Deployment, Delivering Science and Technology for Naval Dominance.” The objective of this panel is to focus on how NRL is a scientific and engineering command devoted to analysis that drives modern advances for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, from the seafloor to area and within the data area.
  • Tuesday, April 21, 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m., Potomac C: CNR Riley and Vice Chief of Naval Research Brig. Gen. Dustin J. • “RF Sniffer” — Enables customers to merely and simply establish radio frequency transmissions via the use of a light-weight, handheld directional gadget.
  • Horizontal Construction App — This app permits customers to carry out horizontal building (e.g., roads, touchdown strips) estimates with uniformity all through the Marine Corps engineering neighborhood.

In addition to Sea-Air-Space, the Gaylord will host the Navy League’s STEM Expo on Sunday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The occasion is free and geared to college students in grades 5 via 12. It will present an introduction to naval STEM (science, know-how, engineering, arithmetic) careers via workshops, palms-on actions and extra. The Department of the Navy’s Naval STEM Coordination Office, positioned at ONR, will exhibit at the occasion.

Hosted by the Navy League of the United States, Sea-Air-Space is the premier maritime exposition for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and protection business.
