“Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman Jr. both had explosives from Willis,” Wingfield posted on X. “Douglas on a short route, then a run after the catch where he showed the long speed.
“Coleman caught a crosser on an absolute bullet from Willis that went for about 25. Douglas additionally caught a ball on third-and-7 proper on the sticks with Chris Johnson throughout his again, however Douglas plucked it and framed it so Johnson could not rake at it.”
Rookie receivers could have to contribute early in Miami
This must be good news for Dolphins followers due to the perceived lack of playmakers on the receiver place. After Tyreek Hill was released and Jaylen Waddle was traded to the Denver Broncos, Malik Washington, Tutu Atwell and Jalen Tolbert were considered the favorites to be Miami’s three starting receivers. But Douglas and Coleman will have something to say about that throughout training camp.

Douglas was one of two receivers the Dolphins selected in the second round of April’s draft. Chris Bell was the other, but he has been placed on the non-football injury list while recovering from a torn ACL.
During his final season at Texas Tech, Douglas caught 54 passes for 846 yards and seven touchdowns. In college, he was a vertical threat who ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Douglas is also a polished route runner, which will help him evade defenders in coverage.
Last month, Wingfield said Coleman had a “robust week” during mandatory minicamp, and his performance is carrying over into training camp. During his only season at Missouri, Coleman recorded 66 catches for 732 yards and one touchdown.

Coleman is known for his blazing speed in the slot, which helps him get in and out of his routes quickly. If Douglas and Coleman can both become contributors in the Dolphins’ passing attack as rookies, it could bode well for the future.
