Professor Sarah Sharples CBE has been appointed to the Council for Science and Technology (CST). Prof Sharples has a wealth of experience in social and behavioural science, data of the UK’s analysis and innovation ecosystem and expertise utilizing science recommendation to tell authorities coverage.

Professor Dame Angela McLean, the Government Chief Scientific Adviser and Co-Chair of CST, stated:

“I am delighted that Professor Sarah Sharples has been appointed to the Council for Science and Technology. Alongside her social and behavioural science expertise, she has extensive knowledge of the UK’s research and innovation ecosystem and significant experience of using science advice to inform government policy. Sarah will bring great insight to CST, and I look forward to working with her.”

Professor Sharples (pictured), who’s the Vice President and Dean of Science and Engineering, University of Manchester, was honoured this yr for providers to Transportation, to Manufacturing Research and to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

She led analysis in transport, manufacturing and healthcare, and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Connected Everything Network Plus. She based and is co-director of the EPSRC Horizon Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT), and has led analysis programmes inspecting implementation of new applied sciences in rail, highways and aviation.
