Amazon has unveiled two new AI-powered personal assistant devices as part of its Amazon Bee lineup. The company announced the launch of the Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse on Thursday, both of which use artificial intelligence to record conversations and provide users with summaries, reminders, and insights.

The Bee Frontier is a wearable device that can be attached to the wrist or clipped to clothing, while the Bee Eclipse magnetically attaches to the back of a smartphone. Both devices are part of Amazon's push into AI-powered personal assistant technology, which it acquired through its purchase of AI-wearable company Bee in July 2025.

The new devices aim to make remembering conversations easier by automatically recording and transcribing them. For instance, users can wear the Bee Frontier while chatting with friends at a coffee shop, and receive a transcript or summary of the conversation afterwards. Alternatively, the Bee Eclipse can record phone calls and provide transcripts and summaries of those as well.

Before using these devices, it's essential to ask permission from others involved in recorded conversations.

Amazon's Bee Personal AI Devices allow users to review memories of recorded conversations, providing a way to recall details from past interactions.

According to an Amazon spokesperson, the device becomes increasingly intelligent as it learns the user's unique patterns and preferences over time, building a deeper understanding of their world without requiring constant attention.

The output from these devices can be accessed through the Bee mobile or desktop app, giving users a centralized hub for viewing all recorded conversations and summaries.

Users have the option to choose between two tiers of service: a free plan that limits conversation summaries to 14 days, or a paid subscription, known as Bee Pro, which costs $12 per month and offers additional features such as personalized chat assistance and unlimited memory storage.

The Amazon Bee Personal AI Devices come equipped with an audio recording feature that can be activated by pressing a button. A light indicator turns on when the device is in recording mode, signaling that it's capturing conversations and ambient sounds.

One of the devices, the Eclipse, measures about the size of a credit card and has a magnetic attachment system that allows it to stick to the back of a phone. Available in four colors, silver, midnight, honey, and blush, the Eclipse boasts a battery life that can last up to three weeks on a single charge.

To start or stop recording with the Eclipse, users simply need to press a button, at which point an LED light will turn on to indicate that the device is actively capturing audio. This feature allows for easy management of recordings without having to navigate through menus or settings.

When connected to Amazon's ecosystem, the Bee devices can integrate with Alexa Plus, the company's new AI-powered assistant. This enables users to access conversation summaries, insights, and shopping recommendations by simply asking Alexa Plus to read them aloud.

Bee devices allow users to link their Frontier and Eclipse devices to various apps, including email services like Gmail and Microsoft Outlook, as well as Google Calendar.

This integration enables Bee devices to perform tasks such as drafting emails and creating calendar invites based on recorded conversations.

Amazon claims that its new AI-powered devices can also connect to Apple HealthKit, which would then be used to build a more comprehensive picture of users' wellness.

The company assures users that it does not store recorded audio, meaning that individuals cannot access or share their recordings. However, users will still be prompted to obtain permission from callers before recording conversations.

Tech expert Jon Rettinger has expressed concerns about the potential invasion of privacy posed by these devices, particularly in states where all-party consent is required for recording private conversations.

Amazon's Bee Personal AI Devices come equipped with a security system called Bee Private Compute, which ensures that conversations are processed within a secure environment where neither Amazon nor any other entity can access users' data.

Conversations recorded by these devices are deleted after being processed into real-time insights, and it is only when users choose to share their data that anyone else can access conversation transcripts or summaries. Additionally, users have the option to delete these transcripts and summaries at will through the app.
