A student within the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology has secured a research award to construct a framework aimed toward lowering admissions fraud in post-secondary establishments

An Algoma University student is engaged on a project that would assist faculties and universities to fight admissions fraud after receiving a high-profile research award. 

Vani, a student in Algoma University’s Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, has been awarded a Mitacs Business Strategy Internship value $75,000 over two years for their project, entitled Developing a Decentralized Trust Framework for Higher Education: A Blockchain-Enabled Multi-Factor Authentication and Verifiable Credential Ecosystem. 

Vani’s final title will not be being disclosed at her request, in accordance with the college.  

The project — which is being achieved in partnership with LinkBlock, a Toronto-based know-how startup specializing within the training sector — is predicted to considerably enhance how faculties and universities securely confirm the data and paperwork college students are required to submit as a part of their post-secondary functions packages, in accordance with a launch from Algoma University.
