Zero Workspace is to support the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards – a number one celebration of science and tech sectors within the area.

The firm, based in 2021, specialises within the design and construct of workplaces and laboratories and has a Cambridge base on Station Road.

It will sponsor the Employer of the Year class on the awards, which is able to happen on 7 May.

Director Barnaby Clark stated: “We are incredibly proud to be a part of this year’s awards, especially sponsoring the Employer of the Year category.

“Zero Workspace provides a consultative approach to office and laboratory design and build.

“This involves getting to know each of our client’s goals, growth plans and day-to-day needs before shaping a workspace around them.”

“Our teams have recently supported some amazing clients focused on AI drug discovery, clinical disease diagnosis and at-home diagnostics kits.

“We have a broad variety of current clients, including a large-scale philanthropic research organisation, a top tier law firm and an organisation who create synthetic DNA.”

In addition to its Cambridge offices, Zero Workspace is also located in London and Oxford, meaning it is at the heart of the UK’s leading research and innovation hubs.

“Zero Workspace offers more than offices and laboratories – we offer practical support to help ambitious teams do their best work,” said Barnaby, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry.

The team’s experienced senior staff stay engaged throughout Zero Workspace’s projects, Barnaby explained – a key reason why so many of its clients, which include The Crown Estate, return.

The company delivers full co-ordinated projects, covering all aspects of architectural design, engineering, specification and construction. Recent projects have included completing a 6,000 sq ft category B office and laboratory site for Cyted Health in Cambridge and a 12,000 sq ft category A and B office and laboratory fit-out for Recursion Pharmaceuticals in Oxford.

And Zero Workspace is expanding fast.

“We are expanding into larger offices in our London HQ and have recently taken on multiple new hires, including two additional project directors to help with a huge growth in turnover,” explained Barnaby. “This gives us the ability to deliver projects across the Golden Triangle, the Midlands and down to Bristol.”

Judging is getting under way this week for the Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards, which are now in their ninth year.

The awards attracted hundreds of entries again this year and the finalists will be revealed in March.

Thanks to the support of sponsors like Zero Workspace, entry is free and finalists get two free tickets to the awards ceremony, which will be held at Hinxton Hall Conference Centre, on the Wellcome Genome Campus.

Editor Paul Brackley, who hosts the awards, said: “We are delighted to have the support of Zero Workspace for this year’s Science and Technology Awards, which are shaping up to be as competitive and exciting as ever.”
