The Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) hosted a discussion board on the way forward for science, know-how, innovation, and nationwide digital transformation on the Vietnam National Exhibition Centre in Hanoi on August 29.

The occasion attracted the participation of ministries, central departments and companies, and leaders of localities; embassies and worldwide organisations in Vietnam, together with main scientists and consultants, and home and worldwide tech companies.

Making then opening speech, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung stated that over the previous 80 years, science and know-how have contributed to nationwide growth and integration. From achievements in agriculture, healthcare, and trade, to purposes in each day life, science and know-how have change into a pillar carefully related to Vietnam’s growth course of.

“Today, the new world context is posing great challenges and opportunities for Vietnam. We are entering the era of AI, big data, green energy, and a digital economy, an era in which knowledge, innovation, and technology become the most important production resources. In the previous century, natural resources and cheap labour were competitive, but now knowledge, technology, and innovation are the keys to determining the national position,” the minister stated.

The occasion had 4 classes. The first targeted on discussing the way forward for sci-tech, with an emphasis on basic and strategic applied sciences.

The second delved into options to advertise innovation and construct a nationwide modern startup ecosystem.

The third mentioned digital transformation, particularly digital infrastructure and digital society, specializing in the way forward for nationwide digital infrastructure, the appliance of digital transformation in state administration, healthcare, schooling, finance, and agriculture, and connecting digital transformation with innovation to drive double-digit GDP progress.

Session 4 targeted on in-depth discussions about 4 subjects: creating human assets for the way forward for sci-tech, innovation, and digital transformation; perfecting mechanisms, insurance policies, and legal guidelines on sci-tech, innovation, and digital transformation; strengthening worldwide cooperation; and selling the main function of know-how enterprises.

At the discussion board, five major initiatives, making a breakthrough basis for the event of sci-tech within the digital age, have been introduced.

They included the science and know-how alternate, the nationwide initiative portal, a nationwide strategic know-how portfolio, Techfest 2025, and an annual report about the way forward for science, know-how, innovation, and digital transformation to be launched from 2026
