Italian style legend Valentino Garavani, whose elegant night robes have been favored for many years by a few of the world’s most glamorous ladies, died on Monday, January 19. He was 93.

Born in the northern city of Voghera, Italy, in 1932, Valentino — who was popularly identified by his first title — realized his commerce in the high fashion ateliers in Paris earlier than founding his personal line in Rome in 1959.

For many, Valentino’s passing represents the top of a technology of old-world style maestros.
