Nigeria’s newly appointed Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, has pledged to reposition the ministry as a key driver of the nation’s economic transformation and technological development.
Speaking shortly after assuming workplace, Udeh mentioned Nigeria should take innovation, science and know-how critically whether it is to rise among the many world’s main nations.
He assured Nigerians that the ministry would create alternatives for the youth to discover and harness their creativity, data, and abilities to resolve nationwide challenges.
“We perceive that if we wish to rise to be one of the main nations of the world, we’ve to take innovation, science and know-how critically. And we’ve resolved that we are going to take innovation, science and know-how critically. We won’t bear it as a relation, as a reputation.
“We will energise Nigerians, particularly our youth, to find and express their skills, their knowledge, their acumen in the area of innovation, science and technology. It will be innovation, science and technology that provide solutions that advance our progress and development, handle our security, and address even the hard-headed monster of insurgency and terrorism,” Udeh added.
The minister famous that the ministry’s management group has recognized “quick wins” that will ship tangible leads to the quick time period.
Udeh emphasised that the ministry’s relevance could be measured by the constructive impression it makes within the lives of Nigerians.
“We have agreed as a management that we are going to work as a group. We have agreed as a management that we are going to establish fast wins, which we’ve recognized, and we’ll work by way of these fast wins in order that we start to make outstanding impacts from subsequent week.
“We understand our role, and the promise that we made as leadership is that we will not let Nigerians down. So, work has started,” he affirmed.
