Two University of Missouri professor have been lately recognized for excellent achievements by the Academy of Science of St. Louis.
Wesley Warren, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of genomics in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and a principal investigator at the Bond Life Sciences Center, was one of six scientists chosen for the Fellow Award for Outstanding Achievement in Science. The honor acknowledges people whose work has led to important advances in science, engineering and know-how.
Warren, who additionally has an appointment in the School of Medicine, has spent greater than 30 years advancing understanding of genome evolution and performance. His analysis has produced influential discoveries that proceed to form the fields of genomics and comparative biology.
In addition, the Bayer University Mentoring Program — a collaborative initiative involving David Braun, director of Mizzou’s Interdisciplinary Plant Group and professor of organic sciences and plant science and know-how — will obtain the 2026 Science Leadership Award. The program helps graduate college students and postdoctoral researchers discover profession paths past academia.
