The sixth Young Scientist Congress started right now on the National Science & Technology Complex in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Organised by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS), this yr’s theme of the congress is “Young Scientists for Artificial Intelligence,” highlighting the research, innovation, and potential of AI led by the country’s youth.
Minister for Posts, Telecommunications & IT and Science & Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam, inaugurated the event as chief guest, according to a press release.
“The authorities is working towards constructing a knowledge-based, innovation-driven Bangladesh,” he said, highlighting priorities including expanding STEM education, increasing investment in AI, and strengthening the startup ecosystem.
He urged young scientists studying abroad to return and apply their expertise to the nation’s development.
Special Guest Md Anwar Hossain, secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, revealed that the ministry has initiated the establishment of a national AI institute.
The congress features technical sessions, research presentations, panel discussions, and technology exhibitions, with participants from universities, research institutions, and technology organisations across Bangladesh.
