Olympic officers banned his helmet. He’ll put on it anyway
Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych advised NCS’s Amanda Davies he plans to compete in a helmet honoring 24 Ukrainian athletes killed within the conflict with Russia — regardless of an International Olympic Committee ban. The IOC stated Tuesday he can’t put on the helmet in competitors, citing guidelines that prohibit political statements on the sphere of play. Officials advised he might as a substitute put on a black armband, one thing Heraskevych says does not do justice to these athletes who’ve misplaced their lives.
