Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years and three months in jail by the Brazilian Supreme Court who discovered him responsible of trying to overturn Brazil’s 2022 election, together with plotting a coup d’état on January 8, 2023. Prosecutors alleged a part of the plot included plans to assassinate the president-elect. Bolsonaro and different defendants within the trial have denied any wrongdoing.
