One of Iowa basketball’s top targets within the 2027 recruiting class is headed in a unique course. And, sadly for Hawkeye followers, its to arch rival Iowa State.
Donovan Davis, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound ahead out of Freedom High School in Wisconsin, revealed his commitment to the Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday night.

Per Cyclone Fanatic, Davis is the second-highest ranked commit in Iowa State basketball historical past. Per Rivals, Davis is the No. 31 participant nationally, the No. 10 small ahead and the No. 3 participant out of Wisconsin. Davis selected Iowa State over fellow finalists Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Marquette.
Iowa hosted Davis on an official visit on April 15. Davis averaged 21.7 factors, 12.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists per recreation, whereas taking pictures 70% from the sector throughout his junior season. The Hawkeyes initially provided Davis on June 22, 2025.
Iowa continues to be looking for its first commitment within the 2027 class. Iowa signed small ahead Jaidyn Coon and ahead Ethan Harris in its 2026 class. The Hawkeyes additionally signed two transfers: guard Ty’Reek Coleman and middle Andrew McKeever.
