Lee Min-hwa, Honorary Chairman of the Venture Business Association
In recognition of his contribution to fostering the enterprise ecosystem
The late Lee Min-hwa, honorary chairman of the Venture Business Association, a first-generation enterprise firm that based the medical system firm “Medison,” was devoted to science and know-how benefit.
The Korea Venture Business Association introduced on the twenty seventh that honorary chairman Lee was devoted to science and know-how veterans in the discipline of convergence and promotion at the “9th Korea Science and Technology Merit Ceremony” held at the Westin Chosun Hotel Grand Ballroom in Jung-gu, Seoul.
The occasion was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and arranged by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, and was held to honor science and know-how personnel who’ve contributed to the growth of nationwide science and know-how below the “Act on Honor and Support of Science and Technology Merit.”
Honorary Chairman Lee is a one who began a enterprise firm and constructed an infrastructure for a home enterprise ecosystem when the idea of startups and enterprise firms was insignificant.
In 1985, he established Medicine, which develops and produces ultrasonic diagnostic units for medical tools, and grew it into the world’s No. 1 firm. He didn’t confine his function to that of a mere businessman. In order to create an atmosphere through which founders can problem, he established the Venture Business Association in 1995 and served as the first chairman, and established the framework of the enterprise ecosystem by taking the lead in selling the institution of KOSDAQ and enacting the Special Act on Venture Businesses.
In 2009, he labored as the first company resident officer and labored laborious to resolve regulatory difficulties of enterprise firms, and likewise served as a professor at his alma mater, KAIST. He later served as the chairman of the Creative Economy Research Association and devoted himself to the growth of the enterprise trade, however died of a power illness in 2019.
