The Korea Institute of Standards and Science (KST) held a ceremony to celebrate its 50th anniversary on the sixth. The Korea Standards Institute develops measurement know-how and distributes requirements.

The ceremony was attended by trade, academia, analysis, and authorities officers, together with Vice Minister of Science and ICT Koo Hyuk-chae, Daejeon City’s Deputy Mayor of Political Affairs and Economy and Science Choi Sung-ah, Chairman of the National Science and Technology Research Council Kim Young-sik, and Kim Myung-ja, Chairman of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology.

The unveiling ceremony of the bust of the late director Kim Jae-kwan, the primary director of the institute, was additionally held to honor the achievements of early kindergarten scientists. First director Kim is Korea’s No. 1 kindergarten scientist, and he laid the muse for the nationwide customary system by stipulating the “national standard system” within the Constitution.

The Institute of Standards was established in 1975 to set up a nationwide customary system.
