The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) announced on the 2nd that it appointed Kwon In-so, a post-retirement professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), as the head of the Physical Artificial Intelligence (AI) analysis workforce.
Kwon is a number one researcher in robotics and laptop imaginative and prescient. It is the solely grasp scholar in the area of synthetic intelligence and robots amongst Koreans chosen as the ‘Top 100 AI Talent in Global’ announced by the UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) China Investment Promotion Office in 2025.
Through this recruitment, KIST plans to develop a Korean bodily AI mannequin and speed up technological innovation in the AI and humanoid fields.
“As the head of the KIST Physical AI research team, we will develop core AI humanoid source technologies, including Korean physical AI models, and conduct empirical research from the perspective of consumers to create results that can be felt by the public,” Kwon stated. “To this end, we will attract top Korean talents in each field, including robotics, non-verbal models (VLM), 3D vision, multimodal, human-AI, and world models, to form a research team and challenge them as one team.”
“We recruited Kwon In-so as a national special researcher to strengthen the research capabilities of the AI humanoid field that KIST aims for,” stated Oh Sang-rok, head of KIST. “We hope that KIST will achieve world-class results in the AI humanoid field by recruiting a national special researcher.”
