For those that plan their traveling round food, there’s a brand new gastronomic rating that places Bay Area cities method up there.
The readers of Conde Nast Traveler have weighed in for its annual travel awards, and in the class of food cities, Oakland takes first place whereas San Francisco scores fifth.
Also inserting in the highest 15 cities are (to no shock) New Orleans and Chicago, and (maybe to slight shock) burgs in Ohio and Hawaii.
Chiming in with greater than 750,000 votes, the readers praised Oakland’s Temescal neighborhood, particularly for the eating places Burdell and Pizzaiolo, and the Fruitvale District for its taco vans and the “best birria in the country.”
San Francisco ranked for its farm-to-table delicacies and Pacific seafood, in addition to the choices from the oldest Chinatown in America. Also in California, San Diego got here in tenth place for its Filipino food, fish tacos and craft-brew trade.
