A major new attraction is set to open in Liverpool, dedicated entirely to the city's most famous sons - The Beatles.

The news comes as interest in the Fab Four shows no signs of waning, and a quartet of feature films about John, Paul, George, and Ringo is due for release soon. This could be just what the city needs to attract even more tourists, potentially rivaling other iconic music-themed destinations like Graceland and Dollywood.

Apple Corps Ltd., the company responsible for managing The Beatles' business interests, has announced plans to relocate and expand The Beatles Story museum in 2028. The new venue will be situated in a prime location near Lime Street train station, replacing St. John's Market with a massive 100,000-square-foot site.

The revamped attraction promises an immersive experience, incorporating cutting-edge technology, original artifacts, and meticulously recreated sets to transport visitors through the band members' lives. This journey will span from their childhoods in post-war Liverpool to their early days performing in Hamburg, Germany, to the global phenomenon of Beatlemania.

As part of the revamp, Apple Corps will take over the existing Beatles Story museum and relocate it to its new home near the heart of the city. The new attraction is set to open shortly after the release of a series of films about the band's history.

The new attraction promises to transport visitors back in time to pivotal moments in the band's history. Sets and props from the upcoming films will recreate iconic locations such as Liverpool's Cavern Club, where The Beatles first gained popularity, and the famous Abbey Road studios in London, where some of their most enduring music was recorded.

In addition to these recreations, the nearby St Johns Beacon, a 400-foot former radio tower, is being transformed into an attraction inspired by "Yellow Submarine. This will offer panoramic views of the city from its rooftop, providing visitors with a unique perspective on Liverpool's musical heritage. The beacon's transformation will be a striking addition to the cityscape.

Tom Greene, chief executive of Apple Corps, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that it is fitting for The Beatles to have a world-class destination in the heart of Liverpool. This sentiment was echoed by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, who both welcomed the development with characteristic warmth.

The city of Liverpool is gearing up for another influx of Beatles fans as a new attraction is set to open in the city, capitalizing on the enduring popularity of the Fab Four.

This development comes on the heels of a quartet of biopics about The Beatles, which are scheduled for release in April 2028. The films will star Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Paul Mescal as McCartney, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.

The Beatles' legacy has already transformed Liverpool into a vibrant cultural and nightlife destination, contributing significantly to the city's economic revival after decades of decline following the closure of its docks. According to Mike Jones, a Beatles expert at the University of Liverpool, this new wave of interest will bring in many more fans, but also poses challenges for the city.

As a result, there is a risk that Liverpool may lose its unique character and become overly commercialized, as Jones warns against the Disneyfication" of both the city and The Beatles. However, he emphasizes that there is still much to explore about the band's relationship with their hometown, a story that remains largely untold.
