On March 31, the 11th assembly of the Japan-France Joint Committee on Cooperation in Science and Technology was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in Tokyo. The overview of the assembly is as follows:
- The Joint Committee was co-chaired by Mr. KAWAMURA Hiroshi, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, led the Japanese delegation and Mr. Jean-Luc MOULLET, Director General for Research and Innovation, Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space of France, cochaired. Many officers from related ministries and companies of each nations participated in the assembly.
- In the assembly, each side launched their current respective nationwide coverage on science, expertise and innovation together with Japan’s new seventh Science, Technology and Innovation Basic plan and mentioned many objects together with future cooperation in strategic fields of mutual curiosity akin to quantum applied sciences, synthetic intelligence, well being, and agriculture; instructions in the fields of area, nuclear power and fusion, as recognized in the Roadmap on Japan-France cooperation underneath the “Exceptional Partnership.”. They are dedicated to selling researcher mobility and collaboration in strategic areas. On the event of the Joint Committee, a number of memoranda of cooperation between related establishments of each nations are being concluded or renewed.
- At the closing of the assembly, a high-level session was held with the participation of Ms. ONODA Kimi, Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy (Cabinet Office), Mr. MATSUMOTO Yohei, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Mr. Philippe BAPTISTE, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Space of France, throughout which they exchanged views on additional strengthening bilateral cooperation.
- The subsequent Joint Committee Meeting is scheduled to be held in France.
