(Gray News) – Ted Turner, who based NCS, died, the community mentioned Wednesday, citing a news launch from Turner Enterprises.
He was 87.
Turner was born Nov. 19, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He started his profession together with his father’s billboard enterprise, Turner Outdoor Advertising, in 1963.
In 1970, Turner entered the tv enterprise by buying Atlanta impartial UHF station channel 17. The station’s authentic name letters have been WJRJ, and the station’s new proprietor modified them to WTCG for Turner Communications Group.
In 1976, Turner bought Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves and launched TBS Superstation, originating the “Superstation” idea. He was married 3 times, most lately to actress and activist Jane Fonda. They have been married from 1991 to 2001.
Turner is survived by his 5 youngsters, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
