On May 13, 2026, dr Kamil Barczak delivered a presentation entitled “Analysis of the Possibilities for Reducing the Number of False Metal Detections in the Coal Feeding System of the New Jaworzno Power Plant”. The presentation happened in Room 431 on the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology.
The presentation involved an evaluation of the coal feeding system on the Nowe Jaworzno Power Plant, with specific emphasis on the issue of false metallic detections within the coal stream and the traits of this sort of contamination. The work was carried out underneath contract No. UM/TW/18335/07221/2025 entitled “Optimization, Selection and Implementation of Technical Solutions Aimed at Eliminating Contaminants Supplied with Coal to the 910 MW Unit at TAURON Wytwarzanie S.A. – Nowe Jaworzno Power Plant Branch.”
The performed research demonstrated that acceptable optimization of detector parameters can considerably scale back the quantity of pointless alarms (primarily brought on by aluminum cans), thereby bettering the operational effectivity of the purification system.
