■ KAIST introduced that it’s holding a gap ceremony for the ‘KAIST Bio Square’ within the Osong Advanced Medical Complex on the sixth, in collaboration with North Chungcheong Province and Cheongju City. The KAIST Bio Square is a core hub for the K-Bio Square initiative, serving as a research and training platform that integrates numerous disciplines such as synthetic intelligence (AI), physics, and mechanics, all centered on biotechnology. Using this facility as a ahead base, KAIST plans to set up a collaborative system with Seoul National University Hospital, Chungbuk National University Hospital, and the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology to generate achievements in anti-aging R&D, together with the event of Parkinson’s illness remedies and medical gadgets. The technique is to leverage KAIST’s entrepreneurial energy, which produces 120 enterprise firms yearly, to domesticate the positioning as an outpost for bio-startups.

 

■ Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) introduced on the sixth that Professor Lee Byeong-ha of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science has acquired the ‘thirty seventh Academic Award from the Optical Society of Korea’. This award is essentially the most prestigious honor within the home optics area, offered yearly to just one scientist who has made excellent achievements within the development of optical science and know-how. Professor Lee, who joined GIST in 1999, has collected research achievements in core areas of optics, together with fiber Bragg grating gadgets, optical coherence tomography, and photoacoustic 3D imaging. He has printed over 150 papers in worldwide tutorial journals, with cumulative citations exceeding 5,200. The award ceremony was held on the fifth on the BEXCO Convention Hall in Busan.

 

■ POSTECH introduced on the sixth that its rowing workforce received the ‘2025 Outstanding Organization Award’ within the sports activities for all division, an honor bestowed by the Korean Rowing Association. The award ceremony was held on the twenty seventh of final month on the Seoul Olympic Parktel. This is the primary time the rowing workforce has acquired the award since its founding. Throughout 2025, the POSTECH rowing workforce received quite a few medals in 4 competitions, together with the ‘Busan Jang Bogo National Rowing Regatta.’ Notably, they received the general championship within the girls’s college division on the Jang Bogo Regatta, receiving the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award.
