Mathematics serves because the unifying basis for all disciplines in science and expertise and performs an important function in constructing options and providers in direction of Viksit Bharat by 2047, mentioned N. Kailaiselvi, Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India, and Director-General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), in Kumbakonam.

Speaking on the presentation of the SASTRA–Ramanujan Award 2025, Dr. Kailaiselvi underlined the rising relevance of arithmetic within the period of quantum computing and urged researchers to discover its potential throughout chopping-edge, multidisciplinary areas of science, and expertise.

The award was presented to Alexander Smith of Northwestern University, U.S., for his vital contribution to congruent quantity issues impressed by the works of Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Of the 20 recipients of the SASTRA–Ramanujan Award to this point, seven have gone on to obtain the Fields Medal, together with Dr. Manjul Bhargava, who was the primary receipient of the award in 2005.
