BUSAN, June 9 (Yonhap) — South Korea has accomplished building a scientific research facility in the East Sea, officers mentioned Tuesday.
The Wangdol-cho base, positioned about 25 km east of Hupo, a seaside port close to Uljin, North Gyeongsang Province, marked the nation’s fourth marine remark facility, based on the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST).
It was the primary time {that a} scientific research facility was constructed in the East Sea.
About 24 billion gained (US$15.8 million) was spent to construct the 53-meter-tall facility, based on KIOST.
The facility is geared toward monitoring real-time maritime knowledge and the meteorological atmosphere, it mentioned.
