RAJSHAHI, April 8, 2026 (BSS)- A analysis challenge from the Research Division
of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has secured
second place.
The college’s three-member analysis staff from the Department of Chemistry
earned this honor by collaborating within the two-day Sixth Young Scientist
Congress, organised by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences.
The congress was held on Saturday and Sunday (April 4-5) at the National
Science and Technology Complex in Agargaon, Dhaka.
During the occasion, younger scientists from throughout the nation introduced
analysis, improvements, and alternatives within the discipline of Artificial
Intelligence (AI).
According to sources, representatives from varied universities, analysis
establishments and technology-related organisations participated within the
congress.
The occasion featured a number of classes, panel discussions, and know-how
exhibitions.
Among the contributors, the analysis paper of RUET grasp’s student Mosfiqur
Rahman Maruf, beneath the steering of Professor Al Amin Al Azadul Islam and
supervision of Associate Prof Dr. Jewel Hossain, received second place within the
poster presentation occasion beneath the class “Physical, Chemical, Natural
Resource and Environmental Science”.
His analysis centered on: “Computational Investigation of Anodic Chlorine
Evolution Reaction over SiN4 Co-Doped Graphene Electrocatalyst”.
The research employed Density Functional Theory (DFT) to investigate the anodic
chlorine evolution response (CER) on a new-generation SiN4 co-doped Graphene-
based mostly electrocatalysts.
Associate Professor Dr. Jewel Hossain, supervisor of the analysis staff in
RUET’s Department of Chemistry, defined that chlorine is an important
industrial uncooked materials used as a disinfectant in water therapy and in
industries akin to polymers, prescribed drugs, textiles, and paper.
This analysis proposes a inexperienced, cost-effective, and metal-free carbon-based
nanomaterial as a possible different to the present extremely energy-
intensive, costly, and noble-metal-dependent chlorine manufacturing strategies.
This new strategy allows high-efficiency chlorine manufacturing at decrease
overpotentials.
This analysis is especially important within the context of Bangladesh, the place
the demand for chlorine in manufacturing industries is repeatedly rising.
Producing chlorine domestically with a cost-effective and environment friendly know-how may
scale back import dependence, promote self-reliance within the industrial sector, and
speed up financial growth via power financial savings.
RUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S M Abdur Razzak congratulated the student
on this achievement and wished him continued success sooner or later.
