Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Prof. Stella Christie stated the closed-door assembly underscored the federal government’s rising consideration to social humanities, following earlier consultations that emphasised science and know-how.
“Previously, the focus was broader and leaned toward STEM. This meeting shows that social sciences are now being prioritized,” Stella stated forward of the dialogue on the Presidential Palace.
She stated the assembly started at 9 a.m. and featured a briefing by President Prabowo adopted by an interactive dialogue with academics from throughout the nation.
“We are very pleased the president wants to engage directly with us, the academic community,” Stella added.
Some contributors attended in full educational regalia bearing their college insignia, whereas others wore plain fits.
