Photos: US strikes Venezuela and captures Maduro

President Donald Trump introduced early Saturday that the United States had captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife after finishing up a “large scale strike” within the South American nation.

The raid, carried out by the US Army’s elite Delta Force, didn’t result in any US casualties, a US official mentioned.

The Trump administration has for years mentioned that Maduro was a legal and has seemed to prosecute him via the US authorized system. In 2020, throughout Trump’s first time period, Maduro was charged within the Southern District of New York for “narco-terrorism,” conspiracy to import cocaine, and associated prices.

In latest weeks, Trump had repeatedly warned that the US was making ready to take new motion in opposition to alleged drug trafficking networks in Venezuela and that strikes on land will begin “soon.” Trump’s strain marketing campaign on Maduro included strikes destroying greater than 30 boats within the Caribbean Sea and japanese Pacific Ocean in what the US described as a counter-narcotics marketing campaign. Trump final month ordered a blockade of sanctioned oil tankers coming to and leaving Venezuela.

Trump mentioned Saturday that the US is “going to run” Venezuela indefinitely till a “proper and judicious transition” happens.
