Noel Acciari and Bryan Rust scored late objectives because the resilient but depleted Pittsburgh Penguins (32-17-14) mounted a miraculous comeback to power time beyond regulation towards the Carolina Hurricanes on the Lenovo Center.

The Penguins did little with a late energy play in OT and survived a last-second two-on-none when Anthony Mantha dove from behind Carolina defenseman Okay’Andre Miller to interrupt up the go and power the shootout.
Ben Kindel scored within the first spherical for the Penguins. Seth Jarvis scored within the second spherical for Carolina. Jackson Blake scored within the third spherical, and the Penguins’ heart-pounding comeback turned yet one more heartbreaking shootout loss when Anthony Mantha was stopped within the third spherical.
Carolina gained 5-4 in a shootout, but the Penguins received a precious level whereas shedding their tenth shootout in 11 tries.
Trailing 4-2 with simply over two minutes to go, the Penguins appeared lifeless within the water. Carolina dominated the third interval, together with scoring a pair of early third-period objectives 59 seconds aside to assert a one-goal lead.
